CrAzY wEeK!

I figured I should update my blog since its been a while! I've been really busy.... I just got home from New York! It was AMAZING! I got to go to ground zero (gave me the chills), Wicked, (which was defiantly amazing!), among other things. Right after I got home I got right back into preparing for my pageant! Which is...TOMORROW! Whoa! It's finally here (: I'm super excited and I have learned a lot from this experience. Beautiful Cami is doing well (: I will hopefully be seeing her soon. The Sonic fundraiser just ended today and did well. Woot! On Tuesday, I got to meet with the board members of ACCO (American Childhood Cancer Organization) it was so cool! As you can see, I have been busy! In closing, I would just like to tell everyone that has helped me thank you! I have grown so much and hope to continue to grow from this amazing experience.

Much Love,

Welcome

I am your typical teenager from a small town in Utah. I have one brother and ten step brothers and sisters. I love to spend time with friends and family, Lake Powell (awesome), spending time at the ranch, singing, dancing, cheerleading, and texting on my phone. I've always had a strong love for children. I enjoy any chance I get to babysit my little cousins. One quality I have is compassion, and with that I have always been a caregiver when people are hurt or sick. It's important to me to be a great student. In fact I have maintained a 4.0 gpa all two years of Jr. High School except one A- UGH!!! :( I stay involved with many different organizations including the National Jr Honor Society. I have performed since the age of 4, following in my mother's footsteps. This year I have even decided to participate in the Miss Utah's Outstanding Teen Pageant. I am really excited for the experience, but most of all to make a difference in "Conquering Kids Cancer."

Inspriational

Lady Antebellum - Never Alone
May the angels protect you
Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when its time to go home
May you always have plenty
The glass never empty
Know in your belly
You're never alone

May your tears come from laughing
You find friends worth having
With every year passing
They mean more than gold
May you win but stay humble
Smile more than grumble
And know when you stumble
You're never alone

Chorus: Never alone
Never alone
I'll be in every beat of your heart
When you face the unknown
Wherever you fly
This isn't goodbye
My love will follow you stay with you

Baby you're never alone

well
I have to be honest
As much as I wanted
I'm not gonna promise that the cold winds won't blow
So when hard times have found you
And your fears surround you
Wrap my love around you
You're never alone

Chorus

May the angels protect you
Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when its time to go home
And when hard times have found you
And your fears surround you
Wrap my love around you
You're never alone

Chorus

My love will follow you stay with you
Baby you're never alone

The day I met a real live Princess..

I was lucky enough to meet my real inspiration for my platform, little Camryn. When I went to meet her for the first time, Cami was confined to her home because her immunities were too low to be around the public. I wanted to make sure I was as clean as possible, so I used hand sanitizer continuously beforehand. Her mother told her a princess was coming, so she made sure to be dressed up in her princess costume. Her big smile was contagious and made it impossible to notice the loss of her hair and the swelling of her face from medications. I took time to read to her and give her, her very own princess tiara. She put it on immediately! I tried hard to hold back my tears but my emotions overtook me as I read and talked to her and her mother about the reality of her illness. It shocked me that this little tiny body had such a huge devastating disease. Cami became my inspiration and I knew this was the platform for me. I want to continue to make a difference in her life and the lives of others with this disease.

Gift for Cami

I followed up and stop by Cami's house to give her a card and gift for her birthday. It was a Disney Princess bracelet that said "Miracles sometimes take time. " She came to the door with her usual ear to ear smile, which again reminded me how important my role is.

My Own Sonic Fundraiser- Yippee!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
I organized and arranged for my very own Sonic Drive-In Conquer Kids Cancer Fundraiser. I was so excited when I saw the marquee, knowing I am making a difference. I became very emotional when I saw how excited the employees were to help this cause. I got tears in my eyes when I was taping up the donation flyers to the window showing who has donated to the cause. Just think, every dollar helps!

Childhood Cancer Statistics

Each year in the U.S. there are approximately 12,400 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age who are diagnosed with cancer. About one in 300 boys and one in 333 girls will develop cancer before their 20th birthday. In 1998, about 2500 died of cancer, thus making cancer the most common cause of death by disease for children and adolescents in America.
